Planning Your Dream NYC Engagement session
Picture this: You just got engaged, and the excitement is real! Cue the happy dance! Now, it’s time to celebrate this joyous moment with an epic engagement session in the greatest city in the workd, New York City. But as you start scrolling through Pinterest and thinking about locations, outfits, and timing, the big questions start piling up. Where should we go? What do we wear? How do we make sure our photos feel authentic and like us?
I get it—NYC has endless options, and it can get very overwhelming. But don’t stress! As a photographer who’s captured a few love stories all over this city, I’m here to make this process effortless and fun. Let’s break it down so your engagement photos turn out nothing short of amazing.
Find a Location That Feels Like You
NYC is full of amazing backdrops, but the best spot is the one that feels like you. Do you love romantic, dreamy settings? Central Park’s Bow Bridge or Bethesda Terrace might be perfect. Maybe its at your favorite pizzeria or a more gritty NYC vibe. Lets hop on the subway and explore the cobblestone streets of DUMBO. More into artsy, quiet moments? At your favorite museum (where they allow photography, of course, wink, wink) or gallery of your choice.
The best part? NYC has it all, and I’ll help you find the locations that feel personal and meaningful to you both.
Dress the part & Own Your Style
Your engagement photos should feel authentic to who you are as a couple, and that includes the outfits. Whether you’re going for chic and sophisticated or laid-back and causal, your look should match the vibe of your session. Imagine cozy sweaters and coffee shop moments, or a formal date-night look for a rooftop sunset—whatever fits your love story the best.
Can’t decide? Bring multiple outfits to mix it up!
Keep It Simple & Enjoy the Moment
It’s tempting to wanna hit up all these iconic spots, but sometimes less is more. Focusing on one or two locations allows for a relaxed, creative session without feeling rushed. Giving yourselves time to soak in the moment ensures we capture natural, candid and authentic photos that truly reflect your love as a couple.
Let’s Make It Happen!
I hope this insight gets you pumped and ready for your NYC engagement photoshoot. Your engagement session should be fun, effortless, and uniquely you. At the end of the day, this is all about capturing the love between you and your partner no matter the location and I’m here to make sure you both have a fun and effortless experience!
